Sounds can have amazing power over our emotions. A song can bring back childhood memories. A familiar voice can make us feel instantly comfortable. Some sounds can even make us laugh in any situation. Ask a friend to do an impression of their favorite animal sound and you can’t help but smile. This is the idea behind Squawk.
Squawk came about from my passion of building apps that bring people together. I found that using custom on-device machine learning models I could create a unique game completely based on the silly sounds people make.
Squawk is short and fast paced game like you have never played before. Every game is different and fun. As the game speeds up it’s easy to blurt out hilarious sounds as you try to make the right one in time.
My kids are the inspiration for Squawk. They remind me that being vulnerable and silly helps break down barriers and build meaningful relationships. Squawk is a simple app that can bring a smile to your face and help you laugh with people you love.

At first it might feel a little awkward to MEOW at your phone,
but you will soon find that there is something freeing and childlike when you passionately blurt out RIBBIT as your turn comes around.
There are two ways to play Squawk:
When making silly sounds that are likely to make you blush a little, privacy is obviously important. Squawk uses on device machine learning, powered by Apple’s CoreML framework to identify the sound impressions you make. This means those silly sounds never leave your phone, are never recorded, and don’t require the internet to work! You can play Squawk anywhere your phone can go.
